Corneal biomechanical properties in normal, regular astigmatic, and keratoconic eyes

چکیده
Corneal hysteresis (CH) is a parameter which measures the viscoelastic behaviour of the cornea, indicating its biomechanical integrity1. Some clinical conditions such as keratoconus, Fuchs corneal dystrophy, high myopia, glaucoma and corneal refractive surgery, may induce changes in corneal biomechanical properties, leading to a decrease in CH2-6. Astigmatism, a refractive error related to corneal asphericity, can be congenital or acquired. The most severe astigmatism is generally acquired as a result of surgery, trauma, or primary corneal ectasia such as keratoconus. Keratoconus (KC) is an ectasic corneal disorder characterized by a progressive corneal thinning which results in corneal protrusion, irregular astigmatism and decreased vision. Corneal Biomechanical Assessment Using Corneal Visualization Scheimpflug Technology in Keratoconic and Normal Eyes
Purpose. To compare the corneal biomechanical properties of keratoconic patients and age-matched controls using corneal visualization Scheimpflug technology (Corvis ST). Methods. Sixty keratoconic eyes from 47 keratoconus patients and 60 normal eyes from 60 controls were enrolled in this prospective study. Tomography and biomechanical parameters of all eyes were obtained with the Pentacam and C...
متن کاملCorneal Biomechanical Findings in Contact Lens Induced Corneal Warpage
Purpose. To evaluate the difference in biomechanical properties between contact lens induced corneal warpage and normal and keratoconic eyes. Method. Prospective observational case control study, where 94 eyes of 47 warpage suspicious and 46 eyes of 23 keratoconic patients were included. Warpage suspected cases were followed until a definite diagnosis was made (warpage, normal, or keratoconus)....
متن کامل3421 Decomposition of corneal topographic data into comprehensive optical components by fourier series analysis
Purpose. To develop a mathematical tool for decomposition of comeal topographic data into comprehensive optical components. Methods. The polar data values arising from each mire of the TM>1 cornea1 topographer were separated into spherical (average power), regdar astigmatic (2’ harmonic), and non-regular astigmatic components (l’, 3’, and higher harmonics) by Fourier series analysis. Averages o...
